Pamela F. Cipriano, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN President of International Council of Nurses (ICN) Professor of Nursing, University of Virginia School of Nursing Dr Pamela Cipriano is the 29th President of the International Council of Nurses (ICN). She was also ICN’s First Vice President (2017-2021), and President of the American Nurses Association from 2014-2018. Dr Cipriano is well known as a strong advocate for the nursing profession, advancing the role and visibility of nurses and increasing nursing’s influence on policy. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and has received numerous other honors. In 2021 she was named number 2 on Healthcare Global’s list of the Top 10 women in healthcare. She is a leader in the National Academy of Medicine’s Action Collaborative on Clinician Well-Being and Resilience, which is addressing the physical and mental health of all clinicians. |

Shannon N. Zenk, PhD, MPH, RN, FAAN Director, National Institute of Nursing Research, National Institutes of Health, USA Shannon N. Zenk, PhD, MPH, RN, FAAN is Director of the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR). She joined NINR in September 2020, following a 14-year career as a faculty member at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) College of Nursing and Institute for Health Research and Policy. Her background is in nursing and public health. Dr. Zenk’s own research focuses on community environments as a social determinant of health and health inequities. She and her team conducted pioneering research on food deserts in the United States. Dr. Zenk is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and was inducted into the International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame in 2019. |
